Living around Austin and growing up attending the ACL Festival every year made this print an honor to create. I don’t think ACL reuses artists so this was my one chance to leave my mark on this iconic Festival. Early in the process I wrote the words ‘beautiful/bizarre’ in my notebook and while it’s difficult to condense Austin into a single image, that phrase still feels right to me. The art represents the city’s connection to bats while also acknowledging the “Keep Austin Weird” theme. A favorite touch of mine is a clear glitter layer printed over the batterfly wings combined with the metallic inks in the sunset.
